What’s The Bleepin’ Secret Everyone’s Talking About?
This article’s title is a composite of two popular movies. Of course, it’s also a question I have often asked myself in the 13 years I have been in practice. Why don’t people seek a hypnotherapist for helping themselves with many of life’s problems or situations?
Stereotypes
I suppose one reason may be the scary stereotyped image portrayed of a hypnotherapist by the media. Movies often portray a therapist as evil or deranged, making their subject experience horrible things or perhaps do things they might not want to do while in a hypnotic trance. Imagine a sinister looking hypnotist with a gold pocket watch being swung back and forth and the words, “You are getting veeery sleepy. You will do as I command.”
Big Pharma
Another reason may be the pharmaceutical commercials now bombarding the airwaves touting the newest relief from a tiny pill. Now think of all the dangers of those medications the small print at the end of those commercials state. Do the disclaimers may cause liver damage, diarrhea, or drowsiness, for example, come to mind? Who wants to add insult to injury?
Hypnotherapy Is Legit
What many people do not realize is hypnotherapy has been an approved form of therapy by the American Medical Association since 1958. It is a therapy with no side effects of a pharmaceutical drug. It is a safe and effective therapy. In fact statistics show a 93% success rate after 22 sessions over a 38% success rate after 600 sessions with psychoanalysis. Depending on what is being worked on many can achieve results or begin to see results after only six sessions.
Why the bleep don’t you give it a try?
